Tokyo Shounen

Wow, all I can is wow after watching this movie. The storyline is so good, and the acting is superb. Sadly, there are only Chinese subs, and they’re simplified too. I can read only a little bit of Chinese, and simplified Chinese isn’t my strong point too. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the movie a lot.

Not your usual love story.

Summary:

Minato befriends Night whom she thought is a boy her age. Yes, a boy, and she sends letters to him. That’s how they communicate. Then, Minato fell for this guy, and she told Night about it. Night gets agitated…coz he likes Minato. and so, begins this weird/awkward love triangle.

I can’t wait for this movie! I think it’s gonna be superb, given this good storyline. I just love movies with mental illness characters. Especially those that has personality disorders. I like it when actors/actresses are given a more challenging role to act as different or altogether the opposite personalities.

Taken from this link.

The first 40 minutes of the movie was from Minato’s (the girl side of Horikita) point of view. I like how the story alludes to the ‘memory lapses’ that will be explained later in the movie. I have noticed how Minato only has two coats though: one furry white one, and one yellow overcoat. Guess she isn’t much of a shopper (^^). This first part ends with Minato finding Naito’s ‘hideout’, and fainting. Apparently, when she looked into the mirror, she could ‘feel’ a boy behind her. To add on to that, she makes the transformation from Minato to Naito after fainting. Creepy, eh?

That’s just the beginning, folks!

For the rest of the movie, Shuu, and later, Naito, take up the narrative. We see the story being retold by a different point of view, and it seems like we have missed out on a lot. When Minato has a ‘memory lapse’, Naito is the one who takes over, and tries to distance Shuu away. Why? Because Naito is a jealous guy who wants Minato all to himself.

Yes, it is a very demented love triangle. Strangely enough, I support the Naito x Minato pairing. It’s twisted, but oddly fitting at the same time.

Anyway.

Naito appears frequently to warn Shuu from getting any closer to Minato, because he thinks that Shuu will hurt her. When Naito was fighting with Shuu, my mind was going, “GO MAKI GO~”! It’s not something you see everyday. Then again, you don’t see someone kissing themselves (well, really, kissing the mirror) everyday too. Poor Naito; he can’t be with the one he loves, and he has to kiss a mirror just to ‘kiss’ Minato. That dream sequence was nice though, when they could finally ‘meet’.

Naito’s last moments were sad too. He told Shuu what Minato likes, and just leaves. The movie ends with Minato looking at a picture that Shuu took of Naito, which Minato swears it is her in the picture. I would pay $30 for that pic. ^^

As you can obviously tell, I LOVE THIS MOVIE. I love the dark plot, NAITO, and the acting. =D

/end fangirl rant.
